Dear Editor,
I read with disgust the ratings of a popular TV owner/commentator about the alleged state of affairs of the government and some sub sectors such as the NDIA, GuySuCo and the business climate.
The PNCR is slipping in the political arena and are anxiously scampering in an attempt to justify their existence as the main opposition party.
However, citizens will no longer be blinded by this charade, as positive developments can be seen in all sectors that are certainly impacting on the lives of ordinary citizens.
I agree that we cannot get all that we want, but a concerted effort is being made by the ruling government to ensure we get there as a developing country.
The freedom of speech is amazing in this country under the current government and the opposition is abusing this privilege to mount baseless attacks on the committed officers and agencies that are critical to the transformation of our infrastructure and economy.
Guyana is well positioned to benefit from the many advantages that present themselves as a result of the global financial and food crisis and all need to come on board to move the process forward expeditiously, rather than pointing fingers. Just get on board and do your part.
Sometimes I find it astonishing when opposition members claim that they are a reflection of the views of the ordinary people of this country, when in reality they are not, but milking the ordinary people which is an affront for their own cheap political ambitions.
When was the last time the Guyanese public witnessed opposition members meeting with the ordinary class?
They probably do so by co-incidence or by design to attract attention.
As such, I therefore caution the reckless PNCR members of parliament/commentator to take time and study all the variables available to ensure a true reflection of the issues rather than tainting them for cheap political mileage.
The Guyanese public is seeing your hidden agendas.
Erica Smith
