New Line Cavaliers defeat Floodlights XI in thriller
New Line Cavaliers of Canal No. 2 continued their winning ways in the softball version of cricket when they defeated the Floodlights XI by six runs, and took away the Rohan Auto Spares trophy, Friday night, at the GCC Ground, Bourda.
New Line Cavalier batting first made 245 all out in their 30 overs. Quasim Sareed top scored with 46, and was supported by Seenarine Mathura 25 and Gajanand Singh 25. Bowling for Floodlights X1, Goverdhan Arjune took 3 for 43 and Fidel Singh 3 for 28. When Floodlights XI batted they made 239 for 9 when their 30 overs expired. Mark Harold made an entertaining 82, Kayume Haslim 27 and veteran player Ramchand Ragbeer, who nearly clinched victory for his team made 19.
Gajanand Singh was adjudged best bowler for New Line Cavaliers with 3 for 40 off 5 overs. All trophies for this match were sponsored by Gopaul Boojraj, managing director of Rohan Auto Spares of Mahaica.
