Another two American citizens were nabbed at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, yesterday, when they tried to smuggle cocaine strapped to their bodies.
The two women, Hagar Bourne, 31, of Bronx, New York, and 19-year old Diamond Rebecca Boulvare, were held by police narcotics agents around 14:10 hours just before they boarded a flight to their homeland.
Police ranks had observed that the women, who arrived in Guyana about a week ago, were looking unusually large in certain sections of their bodies and became suspicious. Kaieteur News understands that Bourne had a large quantity of the drug strapped to her stomach, while Boulvare was carrying it strapped to her backside. Both of the women had stayed at a popular East Coast Demerara hotel.
This newspaper was unable to ascertain the total quantity of drugs found on the women who are expected to be taken before the court soon.
