Republic Bank (Guyana) will continue its sponsorship of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) Annual Educational and Sports Camp this year.
The Bank will invest $120,000 in the 3rd annual event which will be organised by the Rose Hall Town Farfan and Mendes under-15 and Pepsi under-19 cricket teams.
The camp which will take place in July and August is aimed at adequately preparing grade six students for entrance into the Secondary School system while exposing them to coaching in cricket, basketball, volleyball and table tennis.
A total of 60 students drawn from Primary Schools in the Lower Corentyne area will be part of the camp which is to be conducted by retired Senior Master and Educational Advisor to the RHTY&SC, Aslim Rahaman.
Other topics to be dealt with during the camp include drug abuse, peer pressure, HIV/Aids, public speaking skills, personal hygiene, importance of discipline, table manners and the importance of education.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster confirmed that the summer camp is one of several projects the entity has organized under its Peer Education Campaign.
Foster noted that many students find it difficult to make a successful transition from primary to secondary school and the camp would seek to correct this.
Gratitude was extended to the management of Republic Bank for continuing to support the club.
Meanwhile, the Bank also handed over $30,000 to the club as sponsorship towards the publication of its 10th annual Youth Magazine.
