“A third vehicle caused the accident”- driver

The two survivors of last Sunday’s horrific accident which claimed the life of four of their friends are said to be recovering, and up to press time yesterday they remained under observation at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Devon Hector and Aubrey Renville, the latter being the driver of the car which smashed into a parked lorry, are said to be in good spirits and hoping for speedy recovery.
However, contrary to what was reported as it relates to how the incident occurred, the driver of the car said that a third vehicle is responsible for the accident.
According to Renville he was traveling at a moderate speed approaching the turn where the truck was parked. The man said that as he was approaching the turn a truck which was coming in the opposite direction had on its high beam and was in his lane forcing him to pull into the corner and crash into the parked truck.
Renville said the truck even collided with his car but refused to stop and just continued heading up the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
He added that everything happened so fast that he was unable to get the number plate of the truck. The man said the information has since been passed to the police as they continue their investigation.
On Sunday last, Renville and five other friends were returning from one of the many Linden Town Week activities when their vehicle collided with a truck that was parked at a turn in the vicinity of Camp Soweyo on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
Those who perished in the accident were Candace Simon, Ashanti Gomes, Selema Mohamed and Police constable Troy Bramble.
