Left-hander Ricardo Jadunauth stroked an entertaining century to spearhead GCC to first innings points against Everest just before the close of the opening day of their third round two-day Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Cellink Plus first division cricket competition at Bourda yesterday.
The 24-year-old Jadunauth hit 10 fours and a six in an unbeaten 101; his fifth two innings division one century, as the host ended the day on 173-5 replying Everest’s 172 all out.
Former national under-19 Skipper Sauid Drepaul fell 24 short of his century, but only Demerara under-17 batsman Dayanand Roopnarine (26) offered support as Georgetown youth pacer Kevin Ogle took 3-17. Treon Ford (2-18), Joshua Wade (2-22), and Jadunauth (2-23) also bowled well for the Bourda boys.
West Indies One-Day player Leon Johnson, who leaves on Tuesday as guest player with the DCC 20/20 team for the WIPA tournament in Trinidad, made 28 while former Guyana 20/20 Keeper Tyrell Tull, in his first game since his return to GCC, finished unbeaten on 16.
Former West Indies under-15 leg-spinner Amir Khan, surprisingly left out of the Demerara one-day team, has so far taken two wickets for the Camp road side.
At Everest: GNIC were 119-6 replying to Transport Sports Club’s (TSC) 129 when the penultimate day of their clash ended yesterday.
Marcus Watkins made 40 not out and added 49 in a last wicket stand with Devon Nandan who made an unbeaten 30 as Ken Alphonso and Collis Butts captured three wickets each. Former GDF player Keith Fraser supported with 2-30 for his new club.
Former Guyana youth batsman Ejaz Mohamed made 28 and ex-National pacer Rayon Griffith 25 for GNIC who need another 11 runs for first innings points today. Former Test off-spinner Clyde Butts is unbeaten on eight and his son Collis with him on 15.
Medium pacer Quacy Bremner has so far taken 3-9.
The match between leaders MSC and second placed DCC was not played due to the unavailability of the DCC ground which will host today’s GTM under-19 one-day final round game, while the unavailability of the GDF team resulted in their scheduled clash with Police being postponed.
