Reigning Group 4 Champion Andrew King registered a blistering 35.96 seconds to grab pole position for today’s feature race at the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club season opener which will be held, at the South Dakota Circuit, starting from 09:00 hrs.
King will be joined on the front of the grid by old rival Mark Vieira, who clocked 36.52 seconds to relegate his younger brother Paul to the second row after he returned a time of 37.20 seconds, while Canada-based Shawn King was the fourth fastest after returning a time of 37.61 followed by Keith Evelyn, whose quickest time was 37.90 seconds.
The day’s card will see competitors battle in 25 races spread over 8 categories including the 125cc, Super bikes, rookies, Group 2A, 2B, Group 3 and 4 and the go-karts in what is anticipated to produce some scorching duels.
In the Group 3 division, it is expected that Ryan Rahaman will maintain his stranglehold on the group, but he could be challenged by the likes of Kamal Seebarran and Gavin Gayadin.
The Group 2B could also see some intriguing battles between Vishaul Sawh, Gavin Gouveia and Rupie Shewjattan.
Perhaps, the most fascinating rivalry could come in the go-kart category with the return of Kristian Jeffrey to lock horns with veteran Stanley Ming and his 12 year-old son Stanley Jnr, while Jerry Max-Gouveia, Marcus Fiedtkou and Shane Ally are no pushovers themselves.
The motorbikes as expected will be between the young and precocious Christopher McLean versus Carlos Rodrigues and the local ‘Valentino Rossi’ Stephen Vieira.
Fans can look forward to a day of fierce battles and breathtaking finishes.
