Former British Guiana and West Indies cricketer, Ivan Madray was given an emotional farewell on Sunday last by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) and the rest of the cricketing community.
The 74 year-old Madray was laid to rest at the Babu John Cemetery.
The Berbice Board was represented at the funeral by President Keith Foster, Competitions Committee Chairman Carl Moore and Public Relations Officer Hilbert Foster.
Attending on behalf of the Guyana Cricket Board was its Secretary Anand Sanasie.
President Foster commented that Madray was without doubt a legend in Berbice cricket, having been among the first set of Berbicians to play Test cricket. Madray took ill on April 22 while on his way to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, and was rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital where he died one day later.
The BCB will shortly unveil a programme in his memory.
