Come Monday all of the Guyana Revenue Authority’s Compliance certificates will be computer generated using the Total Revenue Integrated Processing System (TRIPS).
The Certificates will now take on the form of a standard certificate with only the text as it relates to the specifics being different.
According to GRA staffers, the new system has been tested sufficiently and boasts a number of security features to guard against forgery.
Media operatives were yesterday assured that the safety and security was of paramount importance and as such several embedded security measures have been included, some of them invisible to the naked eye.
According to Trevington Bowen, Deputy Head of the Tax Operations and Services Division, given that the implementation phase is almost here, the public needs to be edified.
He assured, “There was a testing phase and the system works.”
Compliance Certificates are required for various reasons, including paying of taxes due on land sale, sale of motor vehicles and accessing Government contracts among others.
Bowen pointed out that the computer generating of compliance certificates was just another phase in the modernization of the Guyana Revenue Authority.
The most recent certificates that were issued and their validation dates exceed Monday will remain in force until their expiration.
Given that the new system will be utilised using the TRIPS system, the issuance will be done countrywide. The new system is aimed at enhancing accountability and the promotion of efficient service at the Guyana Revenue Authority.
The process will be monitored rigorously, according to Bowen.
