Dear Editor,
This letter is meant to bring to the attention of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, the poor management and administration of the Leonora Mandir on the West Coast of Demerara.
I am an overseas-based Guyanese who has donated much to this temple in the past. However, the situation at the temple has gone from bad to worse over a period of time and it is about time someone speak up on the poor lacklustre management. I think it is about time I take my money and time and invest it into a more worthwhile organisation.
It is my understanding that there is gross favouritism in allowing certain members the use of Mandir facilities while others cannot access these facilities without the royal runaround. To make matters worse, there is constant bickering, jealousy and poor relations among members. A temple ought to be a place where Hindus come to worship in unity and harmony. Why is it that these few people who are put to run this temple are destroying the name of this temple with their man-made power over other members?
I wish to urge the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha to speak to the ordinary members of the Leonora Mandir in order to grasp an understanding of their frustration and disappointment in the way in which this temple is being run.
Speak to the members and get details of the activities that have unfolded over the past year and only then will it be clear how much the standards of Leonora Mandir have been degraded by a minority. Leonora Mandir used to be a vibrant religious organisation, much better than the state it’s in at the moment.
Frustrated Devotee
