– but victim’s family skeptical about ‘suicide’
The R.K Security Guard who has been detained in connection with the death of his colleague, Julian Embrack is reportedly sticking to his story of finding Embrack’s body after hearing a gunshot.
The guard was detained shortly after the 30-year-old Visiting Inspector was found dead in School Street, Great Diamond on Friday night with a bullet wound to his head.
He was still in custody yesterday at the Golden Grove Police Station. An autopsy is likely to be performed today.
Meanwhile, Embrack’s relatives are continuing to express skepticism about suggestions that he committed suicide and are calling for a thorough investigation into his death. They are also dissatisfied at what they claim to be the reluctance of officials of R.K’s Security Service to provide them with information about the case.
Embrack and the guard who is in custody at present were at the Diamond Secondary School on Friday night.
The guard, who is in custody, has told police that
Embrack arrived at the location in a company vehicle.
The guard claimed that he was in a washroom when he heard a gunshot and on going outside, he found Embrack lying dead on the northern parapet of the roadway.
A police release said that Embrack’s R.K. Security Service revolver, along with four spent shells and one live round were found near his body.
The release stated that Embrack last resided at a Regent Street address.
Officials at R.K’s Security Service have declined to comment on his death.
However, Leonard Embrack, a brother of the victim, told Kaieteur News that he was informed that his sibling was not an armed guard.
The brother said that there are several questions pertaining to his brother’s demise that have to be answered.
“If he went to distribute firearms, how did he end up getting shot? It he went to the scene in a vehicle, was he alone?”
Mr. Embrack also suggested that it must be established whether there was gunpowder residue on his brother’s hands before it is suggested that he took his own life.
“Also, did the wound give the impression of suicide? Were there gunpowder burns to show that he was shot at close range?” the brother queried.
“I am asking the police to do a thorough investigation into my brother’s death.”
According to Leonard Embrack, he last saw his brother on Easter Monday and his sibling displayed no signs of depression.
Mr. Embrack was unable to say where his sibling last resided, but disclosed that he had fathered five children and had separated from his wife some years ago.
