After being unconscious for almost three days, a Pomeroon man finally regained consciousness and was able to give police a statement that may lead to the arrest of his attacker.
Reports are that 46-year-old Lionel Jacobus of Pickersgill, Upper Pomeroon River, was severely beaten some time early Sunday morning by a known person.
This newspaper was told that Jacobus was seen consuming alcohol at another location in the Pomeroon earlier in night.
However, some time between midday and 21:00 hours on Tuesday, the wounded man was rushed to the Charity Hospital in an unconscious state with bruises and lacerations about his body.
After being deemed as critical, Jacobus was transferred to the Suddie Hospital, but after doctors there failed to revive the wounded man, he was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
He has since given police a statement, claiming that he was under the influence of alcohol when he was severely beaten by a friend.
Investigations are ongoing.
And in another matter, this time in the city, a 47-year-old man remains in a critical but stable condition after he too received a sound trashing from two men sporting dread locks.
Reports are that around 1:30 hours on Wednesday, the injured man, Lallman Ganesh, was robbed and beaten.
Reports are that Ganesh was chopped about the head and body and beaten by two men who took away his bicycle and $700.
The man was subsequently rescued and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and admitted.
