Councillors attached to the Anna Regina Town Council are peeved at the present actions of former town clerk, Mr. Ganga Persaud.
They said that the man tendered his resignation on December 31, last, and was back on the job on January 2, last.
This newspaper was reliably informed that during a statutory meeting held at the Anna Regina office last year, five councillors approved of Mr. Persaud’s firm decision to resign. The resignation letter was then submitted to the councillors at that meeting.
Persaud is maintaining that the Local Government Minister is insisting that he continue to function in that post, as he had been doing for the last six years.
According to the source, this situation has since caused a coldness between the council and Mayor Mr. Sammy Rampersaud.
