The Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sport facility will stage a grand one day horserace meet, scheduled its racetrack at Alness Village Corentyne, Berbice on Sunday May 3.
The feature attraction will be the contested in the ‘B and Lower Class’ over 1400m. The winner of this race will collect $300,000 while the second place finisher will win half of that amount. The 3rd and 4th place finishers will receive $75,000 and $38,000, respectively.
An exciting clash is envisaged in the race between the 3 year olds as these animals are Guyana and West Indies bred. The winner in this category will ride off with $200,000 while the second place finisher gets $100,000, $50,000 and $25,000 will be awarded to the 3rd and 4th place finishers, respectively.
The four other races on the cards are: G and Lower Class over 1400M, F and Lower Class over 1300M, I and Lower Class over 1100M, and the L Class over a similar distance.
The organizers wish to remind horse owners that any horse that has participated in previous races will automatically be reclassified. The organizers also said that five horses must start before the third prize is paid. Owners are also urged to have their horses properly registered which will entail a fee of $2000.
