Revival of Guyana Music Festival

Dear Editor,
The following is in no way for a debate to start, and I will say once again that it was indeed a brilliant decision by organisers in reviving The Guyana Music Festival.
To whatever level of support and success it reached after the closing of the curtains a few days ago, it is what they should have expected and nothing else.
I suggested in a previous publication that it wasn’t an ideal climate period to embark on such a venture and to hold off a little longer and see what the changes in climate will bring, especially with the crises globally.
I possess some marketing knowledge and it is my all time belief that certain events need very early planning and companies just don’t appreciate being bombarded with knocking on their doors for overnight consideration and decisions with sponsorship support.
Part of the process is that I believe that companies need ample time of notification.
If they are faced with constraints beyond their control and can’t manage full sponsorship of any kind, they will make an effort with partial support and even try to collaborate with another.
So, I am confident that there will see a much wider participation and support during the next hosting of the event. There is also nothing to lose by getting the overseas communities involved with some donation of appealing prizes.
This always plays a pivotal role in my opinion and hope that the above is a fair assumption of my overall observation and commendation as requested by Hamilton Green, J.P in his GT published contribution dated 4.19.2009 for the public’s commendation of the event in question.
