The Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club will host a horse racing meet dubbed, ‘The Post Arrival Day Meeting 2009,’ at the Club’s Bush Lot Farm headquarters, Corentyne, Berbice, on Sunday May 17.
Seven races are carded for the day and Turfites are guaranteed top class action as most of the country’s top horses would be on show.
Jockeys will contest for a first prize of $350,000 in the feature attraction in the ‘B’ and Lower class over 6 furlongs. The second place finisher in this race would receive $175,000 while the third place is guaranteed $88,000. The fourth place will pocket $44,000. Several other races will whet the appetites of race lovers and includes the ‘F’ and lower Class over 6 furlongs. This race carries a first prize of $200,000 and a second prize of $100,000. Third and fourth place finishers will pocket $50,000 and $25,000, respectively.
Other races slated for the day are the ‘G and Lower, Unclassified 1 & 2(non winners), Unclassified 1 & 2 (J&K) and the ‘I’ and lower class.
Horse owners are reminded that all races will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority and the owners of horses must present their animals to the vet for inspection not later than 11:00hrs on race day.
All horses must be registered under the Guyana Horse Racing Authority and those owners whose names do not appear on the classification list can register their horses with Dr Dwight Waldrond at tel # 645-2828.
