Sunburst Camptown play Pele in tonight’s final
The Guyana Defence Force spoiled an otherwise dream season at the under-21 level by playing an overage player in their semi-final game last week against Pele which they won, 5-2.
But Pele FC protested the playing of one of the Army’s players who was overage and was advised by the Georgetown Football Association, based on their investigations that the player was indeed overage.
Pele will now face Sunburst Camptown in tonight’s final at the Tucville ground, Fruta Conquerors who lost to Camptown in their semi-final 1-0 already declared 3rd place finishers.
Tonight’s clash is expected to be keen with both sides featuring a number of solid young players. The goalkeepers on either side have proven their worth between the uprights, Shemroy Arthur who is also Pele’s captain and Richie Richards for Camptown.
Camptown will be aiming to win this championship to add to their Banks Premium Beer success on Sunday evening, a number of the players who crafted that win will be in the front line tonight against their challengers.
Telson McKinnon, who scored the lone and winning goal in Camptown’s semi-final win will look for support from his Captain Reshawn Sandiford, Kris Camacho, Sceyon Hope, Bevon Moseley, Anthony Belfield, Keifa Small and Mark Moses.
Orchestrating Pele’s bid for the title are Okeny Fraser, Calvin ‘Duty Cup’ Shepherd, Omallo Williams, Rawle Adams, Keoma Gravesande and Sheldon Holder among others. An exciting game is anticipated with kick off time set for 19:00hrs.
The supporting match up will see Conquerors taking on Riddim Squad.
