– cops seek third suspect
Police have detained two Lindeners and are looking for a third in connection with the death of 39-year-old Patrick Henry, who succumbed on Saturday from injuries he received after allegedly being abducted, beaten and tortured last week.
Henry, an ex-convict with numerous offences, was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on April 15 with broken arms and burns about the body after police ranks found him lying in a semi-conscious state in a drain in Silver City Street, Linden.
He succumbed on Saturday.
A police official said that Henry alleged that a Linden vendor and others, who had accused him of stealing, beat him with sticks after abducting him from his home last week Thursday.
Kaieteur News understands that the men had accused the ex-convict of making off with an ice-box and a number of other items from the vendor’s home.
Henry allegedly told police that the men had beaten him while questioning him about the missing items.
He alleged that they had then dumped him in the drain where he was eventually found.
The injured man was taken to the Mackenzie Hospital but was then transferred to the GPHC.
An x-ray revealed that Henry had several old gunshot injuries and that about six bullets were still in his body.
While he was hospitalised, police detained two of the men who Henry had implicated. However, they were released on $25,000 station bail each.
The two were subsequently arrested yesterday.
Kaieteur News understands that Henry was shot sometime ago by a popular Linden businessman after he was caught attempting to break into the man’s home.
