Cuba should be on everyone’s travel list

Dear Editor,
I wonder how disappointed are many from this part of the hemisphere with the non showing of the USA’S, Fist Lady, Michelle Obama during the just concluded 5th Summit of the Americas in Trinidad.
From reports in the media I understand that she had some important family matters which we all should respect.

However, I am quite certain that the planning was done sometime ago and I did find it very strange for her presence to be felt in the other part of the globe and no inclusion of this region.
Definitely much would have been achieved amongst all the head of states respectively and again, I just couldn’t comprehend the politics of not having Cuba invited to such an important event.
Interestingly, there was no major protest. I wonder why that is?
On the brighter side, I was elated that the Obama Administration has now allowed Cuban families to send monies to relatives in Cuba and I am also confident that the embargo will eventually be lifted.
When that happens, it will be one of the greatest achievement and moment for better relations between the two nations.

Resting aside my political observation of this publication, I have to pen this brief commentary from a tourism literature piece that I have in my possession and the name is “The Golden Book,” Cuba, and the text was by Renato Recio, Eduardo Jimenez and Milena Recio.
I believe that Cuba should be on everyone’s list for Caribbean travels.
Very impressive reading and as stated in the reading, Columbus mentioned that it is the most beautiful land the human eyes have ever seen.

I haven’t gone there as yet, but hope to visit sometime in the future and I am definitely in agreement from what the book covers.
A breathe taking focus was on the Ernest Hemingway’s Museum among other museums and other historical sites.
Other interesting sites are as follows:
SOROA
The rainbow of Cuba: UNESCO declared the area a biosphere reserve because of its many natural wonders.
HAVANNA
Declared a heritage site for Humanity by UNESCO in 1982.
MORRO DE SANTIAGO
Because of its historical and architectural importance, declared a heritage of humanity in 1998 by UNESCO.
PARCO BACONAO
Declared a natural biosphere reserve by UNESCO
I don’t believe that my visit will be completed without experiencing the “Cuban Cigar.”
