A pilot who went missing for five days in the Mazaruni area has been reunited with his family.
Relatives said yesterday that Bernard Singh who has a mining operation in the Chi-Chi area returned home over the weekend following a brief rest at his camp.
Although they had received reports that he was found last Wednesday, relatives remained uneasy since they had no direct contact with him.
However, he managed to fly his aircraft to the city and eased their anxiety.
“We want to thank Kaieteur News, we want to thank the police, we want to thank God most of all, the entire family, friends who showed concern and who did everything that good honest citizens would do,” a relative told this newspaper.
This newspaper had reported that the Joint Services had planned to dispatch a team to assist in the search for the pilot.
Bernard Singh, who runs a mining operation in the area, had left the city on April 7 for his mining camp and was due to return on Good Friday.
He had parked his aircraft and walked through a trail to get to his mining camp.
He did reach the camp and was on his way back out a few days later when he disappeared.
Employees of his mining operation, who combed the area upon learning that he had not returned home and his aircraft was still on the runway, later contacted the police.
The relative said that Singh, who was unavailable yesterday to speak to this newspaper, suffered bruises to his feet but is otherwise in good health.
