Two men who took the law into their own hands and practiced vigilante justice on a 12- year-old boy were remanded to prison by Magistrate Chandra Sohan at the Albion Magistrate’s Court.
The men Dasrath Sudhan, 29, a businessman, of Belvedere, and Tameshwar Khemraj, 22, a Barber, of Nigg Settlement, were charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.
They are accused of beating the 12-year-old on April 14 at Albion, Corentyne
The police prosecutor Fizal Karim Baksh told the court that on the day in question the two men accosted the teen after accusing him of stealing a gold ring.
They took him to a backdam in Albion and brutalized him.
The youngster, who lives with an aunt because his mother is deceased, reported the matter to his guardian who informed the police, after which the perpetrators were arrested.
