Vernon McPherson won 17 games to lead Shem’s team, with an overall total of 85 games, to first place honours when the South Turkeyen Sports Committee, in collaboration with Johnny Barnwell, staged a Domino competition in commemoration of the latter’s birthday celebrations at Shem’s Hideout, Vryheid’s Lust Housing Scheme, on Friday, April 17 last.
Bush’s team chalked up 78 games to claim the second position, while the Ex-Soldiers Association sealed off the third place slot after compiling 68 games.
Carl Carter was the most prolific player for Bush’s team with 16 games while Hampton King amassed a similar total to score the most games for Hampton Kings. All trophies were donated by Ruth Quaicoe.
Meanwhile, the Ex-GDF Association of Guyana will host a Day of Sports next Sunday April 26 at the GNS Sports Complex, Carifesta Avenue starting at 10:00hrs.
Several events including the 80m race for Males and Females and the Male and Female three legged 60 meters dash will make up the days programme.
Other events include the children’s race for boys and girls plus a 7 aside football match. Trophies and medals would be at stake.
