Dubbed, ‘Developing future Stars’
The 2009 Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) Novices and Open Bench Press Competition will take place at the St. Stanislaus College Auditorium, next Sunday. The competition was originally scheduled for Linden but that plan has been shelved.
According to the Federation which will be hosting the Caribbean Championships next year, guest lifting on Sunday will be two of the three athletes selected for this years Caribbean Championships, Mervin ‘Spongy’ Moses and Randolph Morgan.
The Federation will be offering transportation assistance to all athletes living outside of the city who will be competing.
To confirm their participation in order to cash in, contact must be made with Federation Secretary Gordon Spencer on telephone no. 626 4717 or Vice President Andrew Austin.
The personal registration of athletes must be up to date for the year and is not restricted to general competition only. General registration fee is $500 while the competition fee is $1,000 per person.
Registration and membership forms can be uplifted, filled in and returned at the competition venue.
Full technical equipment checks will be in enforced. Athletes are therefore reminded that safety or hiking boots will not be allowed.
Meanwhile, the Federation President Peter Green is extending a special invitation to the Linden, Berbice, West Demerara, Essequibo and all other Powerlifting clubs to meet him at this championship with a view to establishing contacts, ties and setting in place the machinery for the resuscitation of Sub Associations.
