The junior selection committee of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has named a 21-man squad to represent the Ancient County in the GTM Inter County under-19 tournament.
The players were selected based on their performances in the just concluded Diamond Fire & General Insurance Company / Inter Zone under-19 and the Spready’s under-19 club tournaments. Those selected are Eon Hooper, Harrinarine, Chattergoon, Dominic Rickey, Raffel Estriado, Alex Amsterdam, Seon Hetymer, Jonathan Foo, Manoj Pooranauth, Joemal LaFluer, Terrence Madramootoo, Sherwin McPherson, Anthony Bramble, Daneshar Ramkissoon, Sahadeo Somai, Trinson Carmichael, Naresh Mahadeo, Clavern Beresford, Raun Johnson, Keyron Fraser, Keon Joseph and Mark Lionel.
The squad will continue training under the watchful eyes of Coach Adrian Amsterdam and Manager Romesh Munna. The final 14-man squad would be selected just before the start of the GTM tournament. Meanwhile the BCB has also named a five member disciplinary committee that would investigate matters involving players and officials.
The committee is headed by Board President Keith Foster and includes Pastor Mark Lyte, Ricardo Bachan, Anil Beharry and Carl Monroe. Among the areas that would be targeted in a no- nonsense approach to indiscipline are drug abuse, alcohol abuse, disrespect for authority, breaking of team curfew, physical fights, abuse of umpires and failure to inform the board of oversees trips.
