In an effort to assist the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) and the Ministry of Health in the blood collection process, Cacique Inc, an ACCA tuition provider, will be hosting a blood drive tomorrow.
The programme will commence at 09:00 hrs at the institution’s headquarters located at 161 Pike and Alexander Streets, Kitty, Georgetown.
The organization is anticipating some 250 units of blood, as already more than 135 persons from the school have registered to donate.
Coordinator of the blood drive for Cacique Inc, Susan Persaud, told Kaieteur News yesterday that sensitization sessions have already been completed at the school, while the residents of Kitty are now being similarly apprised.
Last year, the very organization held a blood drive, during which a total of 75 units were collected. As a result of this, the Ministry of Health rewarded the entity with a certificate and a trophy for collecting the highest number of units in a single donation process.
The blood drive is now an annual feature for Cacique Inc. Meanwhile, Persaud also told this newspaper that Cacique Inc. will be presenting to each donor a certificate of appreciation at a special award ceremony to be held in early May. The certificates will be signed by Health Minister, Dr. Leslie Ramsammy and Vice Chairman of Cacique Inc, Fazil Bacchus.
Persaud said that the blood drive is all part of Cacique Incorporated’s effort to assist the Ministry of Health and the NBTS in improving stock as well as components so as to sustain an adequate level.
