It has been less than a week since a still grieving Nandanie Persaud cremated her eldest son, Sudesh Persaud, who perished last week Tuesday evening in an accident at Hampton Court back dam.
Twenty-eight-year-old Sudesh Persaud, a rice farmer, died tragically after the tractor he was driving lost control, turned turtle and pinned him. He died on the spot.
According to police ranks, Persaud was making his way home when he met his demise. He was the elder of Mrs. Persaud’s only two sons, both of whom have died in vehicular accidents.
Mrs Persaud said that although her sons’ presence is no longer physical, she has, however, reserved fond memories of them. Both of them, she said, were responsible and hardworking. She said that now that her sons are deceased, her husband Ganesh Persaud is encountering difficulties finding suitable and responsible people to overlook his business.
Yesterday, the family concluded that it must be prone to vehicular accidents. Fifteen years ago, the victim was 63-year-old Joseph Persaud, the dead boys’ grandfather.
According to Mrs. Persaud, the elder Persaud also died tragically after the car he was driving was hit by a truck. This happened on October 22, 1993.
She vividly recalled that Friday morning when her father-in-law met his demise. According to Mrs. Persaud, she and the man had left his home at Perseverance, and had journeyed to another village in search of a herbalist who was known for his familiar services in administering of rubs. Her mother, she said, was bedridden after suffering an attack of stroke.
Mrs. Persaud said although death is inevitable she will forever be pained by the sudden and tragic deaths of especially her two sons and her father-n-law. The cruelest part, she said, is the quick succession in which she lost both boys— a mere ten months apart.
Arun, Sudesh’s younger brother, died on June 7, after the motor cycle he was riding was hit by a speeding 4X4 vehicle. He too died instantly.
