The Inner Wheel Club of Georgetown will be hosting its annual Hat Show and Garden Party at the Promenade Gardens on Saturday.
Charter Member of the club, Gem Eytle, told Kaieteur News yesterday that for the past 24 years the club has been hosting the event, which has now become an annual affair.
The Hat Show will commence at 15:30 hrs on Saturday, and will be staged in three categories— namely elegant, original and comical/topical.
People interested in participating in the show can register an hour before the show commences at the Promenade Gardens and, according to Eytle, they have to make their own hats.
She noted that the organisers are looking for creativity in the hats, which will be made by those persons who want to participate in the activity. She explained that the organisers will not reveal the gate price for persons who want to view the event, as that will be decided at the gate on the day that the event will be held.
Eytle explained to this newspaper that the funds raised from the activity will go towards charity, such as scholarships to the University of Guyana, School feeding programmes, distribution of hampers to senior citizens in Guyana, and shut-ins across the country.
Over the years, the event has drawn the attention of approximately 800 persons and, according to Eytle, it is anticipated that this year would not be any different.
