Giftland OfficeMax and the Mayor of Georgetown through a businessman brought Easter cheer to over 100 kids and their families.
Giftland provided 50 kites, which were presented by the Young Leaders of Agricola, who distributed them to kids, and young people who participated last Sunday in the Environmental Day clean up of the community.
Partners for this activity included Namilco, SOL, Caribbean Containers Inc., Two Brothers, the Mayor and City Council, The Guyana Defence Force, ACDA and Food for the Poor.
The kite gifts are part of a larger process to thank the community for turning out through a weekly Mentorship program, which occurs every Sunday.
The young people and their families will also be the beneficiaries of a lunch and they, along with some of their parents, were at the Gardens on Saturday enjoying kite flying and a picnic.
In Albouystown, there are approximately 70 children in the Mentorship program, which is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Faith of God Church.
This Church has not been used since the early 1990s and the Young Leaders of Albouystown are currently seeking help to provide a new roof, water, electricity and other basic infrastructure.
