The Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club (CSTC), in conjunction with the Green Path Foundation, will shift its activities from Georgetown to Melanie Damishana when it stages a 20 laps race walk around that East Coast village this morning.
Rudolph Mitchell, is highly favoured to extend his winning streak to 87 races but will have to overcome stiff competition from O’Neil Durant, one of his biggest rivals to date.
The walkers will convene at the Old Complex for a prompt start at 06:00hrs.
They will then proceed around the village and back to the place of origin. Competitors will vie for honours in the male and female (seniors) as well as the veterans and differently abled categories.
Once again, the top three competitors in each category will receive trophies put up by various corporate bodies. This is the first such activity in the village and the organizers have pledged to continue in this vein in other villages as well as other parts of the country as the CSTC pursues its drive to popularize the sport.
Competitors are urged to be at the starting line for a prompt start.
