Teams from the USA, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname have already confirmed participation in the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) National Race of Champions May 3 Meeting, at the South Dakota Circuit.
The Meet dubbed the ‘GT&T, Carib Beer and Sunburst Orange Juice National Race of Champions’ will be the warm up round for the top Group 4 cars heading to represent Guyana in Jamaica on May 24th in the opening round of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship Series, at Dover Speedway.
Twenty-five (25) races are carded for the day and over 70 competitors have indicated their readiness to compete in cars, lightweight motorcycles, super-bikes and shifter karts. Paul Vieira and Shawn King are expected from Canada, Kem Lall, Sanjay Sewsankar and a team of 5 drivers from Team CAMS (Caribbean American Motor Sports) have signalled their intentions to
participate at this event. Team T&T will be represented by Ravi Singh, Tanko Baboolall and Frankie Boodram.
As customary, all eyes will be fixed in the Group 4 category with the expected completion of work on Mark Vieira’s new Mazda RX-8 Tube Chassis, sporting a new 20B Darryl Drammund Engine.
Kevin Jeffrey has rebuilt his 4WD Mitsubishi Evolution 8 and he too is expected to pose a serious threat to the unrivalled reign of Andrew King, the current group champion.
Paul Vieira, the brother of speed ace Mark Vieira will also compete in this prestigious group to challenge the top brass in a 2nd Generation RX-7.
Group 3 and Group 2 will see the participation of Ryan Rahaman, Kamal Seebarran, Keith Evelyn, Chet Singh, Gavin Gayadin, and others, while the motorcycles and karts will be led by Stephen Vieira, Gregory Lopes, Christopher McLean, Stanley Ming and Shane Ally.
The first race starts at 09:00 hrs.
