North and Central Essequibo recorded victories as the Good Wood U-19 50 overs cricket competition continued in zone A Essequibo recently.
At the Hampton Court ground, North defeated Central by 3 wickets.
In a game which was reduced to 35 overs due to rain, Central took first strike and were bowled out 97 in 25.5 overs. Kumar Kissoon made 27. Medium pacer Nimron Bahadur snared 6-28 and Christopher Blucher 2-11.
North in reply encountered a few nervous moments before they eventually won the battle in the 33rd over ending on 98-7.
Navin Singh scored 18, Fazal Karim 16 and Greson Paul 16no while Herrel Green picked up 3-25 and Ronford Beaton 2-21 for Central.
At Anna Regina Centre ground Central overcame South Essequibo by 95. Central batted first and scored 150-9 in 40 overs. Ronford Beaton top scored with an unbeaten 46 while Herrel Green made 40 as Keron Mc Lennon bagged 4-15 and Anthony Adams 2-14.
South in reply were bundled out for a paltry 55 in 27 overs. Ryan Henry Green (27) and Rayborne Gordon (2-3) were the main wicket takers for Central.
