The West Indian Sports Complex has untaken to sponsor a countrywide inter-Jamaat softball cricket tournament which will cover all the regions, beginning on Sunday with two zones being played off; the West Demerara zone and the Berbice zone.
This is the first competition of this nature and the Jamaats in the various areas are asked to contact their respective area representatives for further details.
Entry to the competition is free and it is the hope of the Proprietor of West Indian Sports Complex and the organizers of this tournament, that it will foster greater brotherhood and stronger unity among Muslims.
The competition will also see the individual champion teams in each area clashing to determine the overall inter- Jamaats countrywide champion.
The competition will be a six over affair and all Jamaats are asked to uplift their respective rule sheets from the representatives.
The proprietor has also indicated that this will be an annual tournament.
The East Coast and East Bank zones will be contested on the Sunday April 19, whereas the Essequibo and Wakenaam zones will be staged on a later date.
The prizes will be trophies for the winner, runners-up and the man-of-the-match in the finals.
Some eighteen trophies will be handed out during this tournament.
