The semi-finals of the inaugural Milo under-21 football competition sponsored by M Beepat & sons will now be contested next Wednesday at the Tucville ground. The games were scheduled for Wednesday last.
Meeting in the opening clash will be the Guyana Defence Force and Pele in what is anticipated as a fierce encounter, both teams featuring formidable young players.
While the GDF unit will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of their senior counterparts who defeated Pele in the quarter-finals of the Banks Premium Beer Cup, 2-0, Pele’s youths no doubt will be seeking revenge.
Players from both teams featured in the senior clash and will meet again at the under-21 level. Appearing for Pele will be Okeny Fraser, Calvin ‘Duty Cup’ Shepherd, Omallo Williams, Shemroy Arthur (GK), Rawle Adams, Keoma Gravesande and Sheldon Holder among others.
The GDF’s charge will be led by Marlon Benjamin, Nigel Braithwaite, Keiron Cameron, Olvis Mitchell and custodian Akel Clarke.
And in what is now becoming a regular showdown is the clash of the juices between Sunburst Camptown and Fruta Conquerors.
The juniors will now pick up the steam from their seniors and it will be a ding dong showdown.
Camptown’s leading striker Telson McKinnon will be matched against his counterpart from Conquerors, Manasseh Primo. In defence, leading the Fruta side will be their captain Trevon Lythcott, Reshawn Sandiford guiding the Sunburst lads with Richie Richards in goal. Kick off time is 17:00hrs. (Franklin Wilson)
