The Hikers Hockey Club will be the first local club team to participate in the annual Trinidad and Tobago Hockey Board International Easter Youth Tournament.
The team arrived in the Twin Island Republic on Wednesday and had their first taste of the artificial turf as they went through their practice drills.
The tournament features club teams from all over the Caribbean competing in three age categories, Under-13, 16 and 21.
Hikers are due to compete in the U-16 and 21 divisions, while their lone female representative Macaela Harding will team up with a Trinidadian team.
The tournament will be played over a 3-day period with the U-13 competition taking place Wednesday (April 8), while the other two categories will be contested the following days respectively.
According to McIntosh, this tournament is all part of Hikers continuous plan for junior development, where dedicated young players are given early exposure to artificial turf and international competition.
The team is being coached by former senior national coach Timothy McIntosh and his assistant is Kevin Fogenay. Those attending the tournament are – Aroydy Bransford, Anthonio Pemberton, Andrew Stuart, Leon Bacchus, Shaquielle Assanah, Ryan Primo, Travon Younge, Akeem Thompson, Rayon Bransford, Osafo Timmerman, Anton Duke, Michael and Macaela Harding.
