As part of their continued efforts to give back to society, the Benschop Foundation yesterday hosted a graduation ceremony, for some 60 young women who recently completed a Nail Technician Course, at the New Court Yard, on Main Street.
The course, which was done in collaboration with the Glory to Glory Beauty Salon, was done with the aim of empowering members of the society, especially females.
The course lasted for nine weeks.
“Our real emphasis is not just on single parents, it’s on individuals, young ladies and young people in society who want to make better of their lives,” said the Chief Executive Officer of the Benschop Foundation, Mark Benschop.
Benschop said that to date, hundreds of young women have graduated from previous Nail Technician Courses. He added that the Foundation would soon begin the orientation for the next batch of students.
The proprietor of the Glory to Glory Beauty Salon, Karen Collins, who trained the young ladies in the Nail Technician Course, said that all of the graduates were good, professional nail technicians.
“They have gone through the elementary and advanced levels, and as such, you can be sure that you are going to get good service from them,” said Collins.
At the same time, both Benschop and Collins noted that there have been trials and tribulations during the courses. Nonetheless, the graduates were urged to be professional and to fully utilize their new certifications.
