A Brazilian national is currently nursing two gunshot wounds he sustained during a robbery in the Aranka Backdam.
Edmilson De Souza Aroujo, 32, was air dashed to the city yesterday some time after 17:00 hours and was treated and subsequently admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
This newspaper was told that six armed men attacked the man and other miners in a mining camp at Aranka in the Cuyuni.
During the ordeal the injured man and his colleagues were relieved of a quantity of cash and jewellery.
Reports are, too, that all the men who attacked the mining camp wore masks except for one who sported dreadlocks.
Up to press time yesterday, the wounded man was still hospitalized and was being treated for two gunshot wounds to his back.
