Banks D.I.H Executive, Mr. Ramesh Dookhoo has again been elected President of the Guyana Manufacturing & Services Association Ltd. for 2009-2010.
He was elected at the Association’s Annual General Meeting held Friday at the Cara Lodge, Quamina Street, Georgetown.
Mr. Dookhoo previously served as President from 2002-2004 and 2008-2009 respectively. He is supported by Mr. Terry Holder of G.T&T as First Vice President, Mr. Anthony Ross of Sterling Products as Second Vice President and Mr. Autamaram Lakeram of National Milling Company of Guyana as Third Vice President.
Expressing his appreciation for the confidence the Board had expressed in him, Mr. Dookhoo noted that there was a great deal of work to be done by the Association, operating as it does in a challenging business environment.
The new President emphasized the need for all the established committees to function effectively and he stressed the importance of the work of the Trade and Investment and the Policy and Legislative Committees. He called on the Chairmen of the various sub-sectors to take effective control of those areas.
The Chairs of the various sub-sectors are: Mr. Anthony Ross (Agro-Processing), Mr. Gopienauth Sowdagar (Construction & Engineering), Mr. Gowkaran Persaud (Minerals & Related Industries), Mr. Lindel Harlequin (Services), Mr. Rustum Bulkan (Forestry and Wood Products), and Mr. Gregory De Gannes (Fast Food Production Sub-Sector).
The other members, elected to the Board at the AGM, are: Mr. Tarchandra Kellowan, Mr. Oscar Phillips, Mr. Clement Duncan, Mr. Lloyd Singh, Mr. Neil Fraser, Mr. Earl John, Ms. Jocelyn Dow, Mr. Peter Pompey, Mr. Raymond Ramsaroop and Mr. Mark Bender.
