The National Referees Committee (NRC) of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) in junction with the Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC) successfully completed a Beginners Referees Course in Berbice last weekend at the Blairmont Community Centre Ground, West Berbice.
Six persons participated with 100% success. Topping the class with 92% was Sherwin Johnson of #5 Village, West Coast Berbice, a Field Forman attached to Guysuco, he was also one of the three persons who were successful at a Fitness Run held on the opening day, Saturday at the same venue.
Following closely with 85% was Electrician Phillip Thomas of Zorg en Hoop, Scheme, Blairmont, Rajesh Bissoondial, Rosignol resident was next with 83%.
Other successful participants were Paul Azeez of Blairmont, Julian Mohabir of Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje and the lone female, Nurse / Trainee Verlinda Collins of Ithaca Village, West Bank Berbice.
Also passing the fitness test were Colin Bowry of New Amsterdam and Kleon Lindie of #5 Village. The sessions were conducted by Referee Instructor and Assessor Lawrence Griffith.
Meanwhile the NRC/GFRC will be conducting a similar Beginners Course at the Carifesta (GNS) Sports Complex this Saturday and Sunday April 4th and 5th commencing at 09:00 hrs both days.
A Fitness Test will also be run on Saturday from 06:00 hrs at the Eve Leary Sports Club Ground.
