Kaieteur Sport continues the profiles of the national junior and cadet table tennis players that will participate in the Caribbean championships in Saint Kitts from April 12–19 in a bid to compete at the Latin American championships.
Name: Linden Johnson
Post: National Table Tennis Coach
Qualification: International Olympic Committee diploma at University of Hungary and International Table Tennis Federation Level III Coach’s Certificate.
Experience: Active since 1989; Assistant National Coach 1997–2002 and National Coach 2003–Present.
Name: Adielle Rosheuvel
Age: 14 years old
School: Queens College
Strength: Right Hand Offensive
Notes: Adielle has been playing table tennis for approximately seven years and consistently performs on the local circuit.
Name: Chelsea Edghill
Age: 11 years old
School: Mae’s Secondary School
Strength: Right Hand Offensive
Notes: Chelsea is described as one of the most promising talents in the sport locally and a lot is expected of her in Saint Kitts.
Name: Ambrose Thomas
Age: 16 years old
School: North Ruimveldt Multilateral
Strength: Right Hand Offensive
Notes: Ambrose is recognised as one of the leaders on the team because of her experience, talent and obvious skill.
Name: Samuel Fraser
Age: 13 years old
School: Central High School
Strength: Right Hand Offensive
Notes: A definite emerging star, Samuel will have to be at his best to help the under–15 boys’ team seal a victory.
Name: Denzil Hopkinson
Age: 16 years old
School: Mae’s Secondary School
Strength: Left Hand Offensive
Notes: Denzil is a hard worker and that ethic will have to be efficient in Saint Kitts for the good of the national team.
Name: Trean Phillips
Age: 16 years old
School: Mae’s Secondary School
Strength: Right Hand Offensive
Notes: Trean is a new comer who is expected to learn from his more senior and seasoned team mates on the tour.
Name: Varsha Panday
Age: 17 years old
School: School of the Nations
Strength: Right Hand Offensive
Notes: Varsha is another consistent performer on the local circuit and will like to add Caribbean titles to her repertoire.
Name: Ronaldo Bharat
Age: 17 years old
School: Formerly of IBC
Strength: Right Hand Offensive
Notes: Bharat is a seasoned player on the local circuit and his consistent national appearance will add to his confidence.
