The final two preliminary round matches in eth Milo / GFA 2008 under-21 league will be contested this afternoon at the Camptown ground, Campbellville.
From 13:30hrs, Black Pearl will face off with Alpha United, the feature game bringing together BK International Western Tigers and home team, Sunburst Camptown. With the Guyana Defence Force boasting a perfect record of four wins from as many matches, a total of 12 points and a place in the knockout stage as the leader of group ‘C’, the battle for the runner up spot is between the Tigers and Camptown, both teams on 6 points from 3 matches each. An exciting match up is anticipated.
Black Pearl, lying third in group ‘B’ with 6 points, the same as Uprising who have a better goal average and 3 more than Alpha, will be going all out for a win but at least a draw to secure the second place in the group behind leaders, Fruta Conquerors on 12 from their four victories.
In group ‘A’, Pele and Santos are already through to the knock-out stage finishing on 8 points each from their four matches, 2 wins and an equal amount of draws.
The top two teams from each group along with the best two third placed teams will contest the knock-out stage of the competition.
