Mystery surrounds the death of Ms. Ula Brown, also known as “Ms Brown”, a supervisor attached to the Secret Villa Hotel, Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara.
Brown was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital last evening after she was rushed to the institution under the suspicion that she may have been electrocuted in the vicinity of the hotel.
According to people who lived close by, they last saw the supervisor early yesterday afternoon. The neighbours further told Kaieteur News that a shop owner called the woman and told her that a wire was sparking near a window at the hotel.
“De shop lady called she and show she de wires sparking and she left and went to inside probably to investigate”, the neighbour explained.
The same neighbour said that Ms Brown probably came into contact with the live wires and was electrocuted.
Neighbours also stated that when the body was leaving the hotel the victim’s body had visible burn marks on her hands and foot.
When Kaieteur News visited the hotel yesterday afternoon, staffers refused to comment on the situation stating that they were not aware of any electrocution in the area.
Sources told Kaieteur News that the same hotel is under investigation by the Guyana Power and Light for stealing electricity.
Efforts to contact the woman’s family proved futile.
