Dear Editor,
During the time when the tape recordings of the Police Commissioner Winston Felix were being circulated, the Prime Minister and others publicly demanded an explanation from the Police Commissioner Felix.
This time around we have court room quality information in the form of sworn affidavits, court approved recordings of conversations, etc. in which an informant reveals the involvement of another Minister in the workings of the death squads.
These documents are currently in the public domain so none of the two can pretend not to have seen them. How come the PM does not see it fit to demand an explanation from the named Minister? Are the Felix tapes more reliable than these courtroom documents? In the case of the President, he takes only what is favourable to him from the transcripts – the Major Clarke intrigue.
The other revelations are scorned. I am aghast that the people of Guyana accept such disrespect for their intelligence from their elected representatives.
