THANK YOU!!! RPSF head, Reds Perriera (centre) and GOA President, Juman Yasin (second, left) take a close look at some of the boxing gear while other GOA officials join in the examination.
The Reds Perriera Sports Foundation (RPSF) Thursday continued its benevolence when a quantity of amateur boxing gear was handed over to the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) at a simple presentation at Olympic House.
Head of the foundation, Joseph ‘Reds’ Perriera, indicated that the donation is intended to further develop the sport in Guyana with a special focus in the Buxton community where the majority of gear will be handed over.
“The sport in Buxton can change some lives. This presentation basically comes out of a gym of need and only serves to encourage the association to do the same,” Perriera said briefly after donating the equipment.
He informed that the package includes everything to facilitate a gym except a ‘punching bag’ and he is sure that there is a building in the community that can be used to facilitate the gym. Perriera said he was merely proving an idea.
In response, GOA President, Juman Yasin thanked the RPSF for the “gesture” and vowed to ensure that the Buxton community benefit from the donation. “We will ensure that the necessary gym benefit,” Yasin noted briefly.
