NAU whip Mahaicony, Monedderlust lose by default
The Berbice Football Association (BFA) kicked off their inter club under-15 competition on Sunday last at the Rosignol Community Centre ground with eight (8) teams in contention for the top prize and players vying for a place on the Association team for the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) inter association competition.
Registering the first win of the round-robin league was New Amsterdam United by a whopping 5-0 margin over Mahaicony. Two players were on target for the winners, Kanata Simpson blasting a hat-trick (5, 26 & 57) and Mark Wrong tucked in a brace in the 60th and 76th minutes.
Monedderlust were 3-0 victors over Rosignol United compliments of a Raynel Frank triple which came in the 14th, 51st and 54th minutes, but his hard work went through the window as it was later discovered that he was one of a number of players who were over the age limit. The match was subsequently awarded to Rosignol United.
Real Union FC took full points without breaking a sweat, their opponents, Barzilla, failed to show up.
Matches are set to continue on Sunday at the same venue from 13:00hrs. NAU will face Corriverton Links, Mahaicony United oppose Hearts of Oak Juniors,
Monedderlust match skills with Barzilla and Rosignol United test Real Union. Meanwhile, clubs are asked to note that the under-13 which was scheduled to start on Saturday has been rescheduled to a later date which will be announced shortly.
