A new lumber and plywood outlet authorised by Barama Company Limited was unveiled at the Barama Company compound, on Tuesday. The venture, according to Minister Robert Persaud, will provide and benefit all consumers with products at more reasonable price and quality.
Chief Executive Officer of Barama Company Limited, Peter Ho and Raymond Jaisingh, the owner of the new outlet named RJ Company, along with the Minister of Agriculture Robert Persaud, were all present at the opening ceremony that marked the beginning of a new kind of partnership between Barama Company and an outside agent.
Mr. Jaisingh worked very hard to complete the outlet that is expected to benefit the Guyanese people, according to Minister Persaud.
There have been several developments that led to this investment, stated Mr. Mohindra Chand, Forest Planning Officer and Senior Manager of the Company.
Minister Persaud noted that consumers were paying too much for the same type of products and that they should not be disadvantaged.
He added that the company could be the forerunner of many other such facilities that will control the supply of materials to more parts of Guyana.
This outlet was instituted to have more local natural building material on the general market to all types of consumers for less.
At present, there are many housing units, according to the Minister, that will continue to be constructed.
More homes will be built; local consumers will be benefiting because the fact is the prices have been dropped by as much as 15 percent.
The Minister took the time to acknowledge Mr. Ho for his genuine assistance in making a significant improvement in this sector. Chand noted that with this venture the company does not intend to compete with other markets currently available but hopes to provide quality and reasonable products.
He added that since last year they started to engage the Government for support. One way was to have an open simple outlet that would provide consumers with the various options.
Mr. Jaisingh thanked all who helped make his dream become a reality
He assured consumers that all material will be of good quality, something that the buying public should seek to capitalize on.
Now with the brand new plywood and lumber outlet at the BCL compound, the company looks forward to much support in the coming years.
