Group ‘B’ favorites Winners Connection started their quest for top honours in the Netrockers FC under-19 Town Week tournament with a confident 3-0 win over Vasco when play continued on Sunday at the Bayrock Community ground in the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden.
The days other match up saw host team Netrockers needling Eagles to secure their place in the knock-out stages of the tournament.
Winners made good use of their scoring opportunities, Jermaine Fordyce opening the gates with a well taken free kick in the 35th minute. A mere two minutes later, Errol David doubled the lead with the deal being sealed in the 53rd through an Owen Williams effort.
The winning Manager Haslyn Crawford speaking after the game said they came with a plan and executed it well despite some early blunders which his charges were able to correct.
In the group ‘A’ fixture, Netrockers through an Eon Ellis 38th minute goal took full points from Eagles United with the 1-0 win. They have now moved on to the knock-out stage with the win.
Team coach Eon Wills said it was a hard fought game, almost evenly contested but tactically his side had the edge. “I’m grateful for the three points which seals our place in the next round. I know the areas that we need to work on and that we’ll do in time for the next game.”
