Mar 18, 2009 Letters
Dear Editor,
I am responding to a letter in the Kaieteur News, dated Saturday March 14, 2009.
That letter was headlined “T–Pain Concert – A Barbecue Concept”. How dare Mr. Calvin Lewis, whoever he is?
If Mr. Lewis had gotten the facts straight in the first place, he would not have made inaccurate statements. The first thing is that Hits & Jams made a public statement that T–Pain was not coming anymore due to the fact that he had a death threat hanging over his head.
And the person who is responsible for making that threat just does not want to see Hits & Jams do anything meaningful for the people.
As luck would have it I didn’t hear anyone complain about the show but they got their money’s worth.
The second thing is that the show was never cancelled, because I bought my ticket and of course I was upset at the fact the T–Pain was not coming anymore, but I had a wonderful time at the show.
Thirdly, if Hits & Jams advertised over a month in advance that T– Pain was coming I would suggest that they had already made an advance payment because you cannot promote an artiste coming into the country if you do not make an advance payment.
Everyone had something to say about the show be it positive or negative, but these things do happen.
I personally happen to know one of the entertainers as a friend and he told me that everyone is entitled to an opinion because this is a free country.
He said that it is through negative vibes that they will become stronger and they will be striving harder to make the people happy. So Mr. Lewis, you are just one of the few people that wouldn’t want to see some hard working promoters happy.
