National senior team all-rounder Marina Bridgemohan has been included in a 20-member national under-19 female cricket squad which will begin a 10-day encampment period on the Essequibo Coast from tomorrow.
The tall Essequibian did not participate in the first two trails matches due to University of Guyana commitments and only played in the last trial game.
However, her obvious talent was taken into consideration when the national junior selectors named the encampment squad which will assemble at the Essequibo Cricket Board Hostel from tomorrow morning to commence preparations for the West Indies under-19 female cricket tournament which takes place next month in St Lucia.
The squad also includes Berbice wicket-keeper/batter Shamaine Campbell, who was a member of the West Indies Women’s World Cup squad in Barbados, and the final touring party will be named when the Anna Regina based camp concludes on March 29.
The 16-year-old Campbell scored two half centuries in the three trial games and was also very efficient behind the wicket. She is tipped to be named Captain of the Guyana team for the St Lucia tour.
The full squad read:-Shamaine Campbell, Marina Brijmohan, Oliva Oselmo, Haseena Mohamed, Desmond Hill, Naline Sumintra, Katana Mentore, Latoya Smith, Jessica Gonsalves, Jacqulyn Singh, Trishane Cort, Hema Singh, Anganie Lalbachan, Nayesha Khan, Timeca Kerr, Resha Khan, Jocell Joseph, Nirmala Suedatt, Steffi Rodney, Latshana Tussaint
