Led by a fine all-round performance by captain Eugene La Fleur, Bermine trampled Police by eight wickets last weekend to advance to the second round of the ABS sponsored 40 overs First Division knockout cricket tournament in Berbice.
Playing at the Cumberland ground Police opted to bat first after winning the toss. They were bowled out for 148 in 29.1 overs. Deon Farley was their leading batsman with 37, Michael Saul chipped in with 35.
Medium pacer Julian Moore with 4-27, left arm spinner Eugene La Fleur 2-24 and off spinner Andrew Williams 2-38 were the main tormentors with the ball for Bermine who responded with 149-2 off 23 overs.
National under-15 player Joemal La Fleur top scored with 51 decorated with 9 fours, while his brother and national under-19 Captain Eugene was unbeaten on 48. Charles Gibson took 2-24 bowling for Police.
Bermine will now face Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar in the second round with the winner of this encounter facing Port Mourant in the lone semi-final.
Young Warriors have already booked their place in the final after drawing a bye in the semi-finals.
