Central Division detectives in Trinidad managed to intercept 13 kilograms of cocaine aboard a vessel, which was due to leave the twin-island republic for Guyana yesterday.
The vessel originated from Antigua.
The illicit drug was found in 12 plastic-wrapped bundles hidden behind a stack of boxes. The discovery was made by a freight handler, who spotted a broken seal on a container as it was being lowered on to the ship. He became suspicious and called the police.
Since then, the ship’s captain has been questioned, and the owner of the container is being sought by the police. (trinidadexpress.com)
